Swiftcurrent Lodge is on the Big Thompson River 300 yards from Rocky Mountain Nat’l Park Quiet, Clean, Affordable and Friendly
We are 3 miles southwest of downtown Estes Park, close enough to enjoy the diverse activities, yet secluded enough to “get away from it all” at our year round vacation get-a-way for families, couples and singles.
We offer 1 and 2 bedroom rustic duplex cottages and as well as modern facilities, sleeping 2 to 4 persons. Six of our cottages and two of our deluxe units have kitchenettes or full kitchens. BBQ grills, picnic and play areas are available for the use of all our guests. All of our modern units and four of the rustic units have TVs. Cots & travel cribs are also available.
Enjoy viewing the abundant wildlife during your stay, many can be seen right here from the your cottage or lodge room. Fishing can be enjoyed just feet from your back door, or begin your Rocky Mountain National Park hiking/snowshoe journey 300 yards from our property, on a trail leading to Moraine Park and beyond. Catch the seasonal RMNP shuttle just 1 mile up the trail.

Activities

Hiking

Hiking can begin right outside your back door. We are 300 yards from Rocky Mountain National Park. There is a short trail that goes in a circle, crossing the Big Thompson River and Glacier Creek, perfect for an early morning or evening stroll. There is a trail up to Moraine Park, where you can catch a shuttle nearby to other hiking areas in the park, or continue from Moraine Park. You can hike up Eagle Cliff and take in the beautiful panoramic of Moraine Park from above, giving you the most incredible view of the towering Rockies and the Continental Divide.
Wildlife

Depending on the time of year you stay at the Swiftcurrent Lodge, there are many types of wildlife you may see. Elk, deer, marmots, ermine, raccoons, cottontails, coyotes, Abert’s squirrels, misc.  squirrels, and chipmunks. Birds ranging from hummingbird to eagle.  Jay’s, kingfishers, various woodpeckers, owls, ducks, chickadees, dippers, and ptarmigans.
Fishing

Enjoy river fishing right outside your back door on the Big Thompson River. There are several lakes nearby for lake fisherman. We have had Brown, Brook, Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout pulled from the river, one of the largest being 22”!
