Activities
Hiking |
Hiking can begin right outside your back door. We are 300 yards
from Rocky Mountain National Park. There is a short trail that goes in a
circle, crossing the Big Thompson River and Glacier Creek, perfect for an early
morning or evening stroll. There is a trail up to Moraine Park, where you can
catch a shuttle nearby to other hiking areas in the park, or continue from
Moraine Park. You can hike up Eagle Cliff and take in the beautiful panoramic
of Moraine Park from above, giving you the most incredible view of the towering
Rockies and the Continental Divide. |
| Wildlife |
Depending on the time of year you stay at the
Swiftcurrent Lodge, there are many types of wildlife you may see. Elk, deer,
marmots, ermine, raccoons, cottontails, coyotes, Aberts squirrels,
misc. squirrels, and chipmunks. Birds ranging from hummingbird to
eagle. Jays, kingfishers, various woodpeckers, owls, ducks,
chickadees, dippers, and ptarmigans. |
| Fishing |
Enjoy river fishing right outside your back door
on the Big Thompson River. There are several lakes nearby for lake fisherman.
We have had Brown, Brook, Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout pulled from the river,
one of the largest being 22! |
